Wash Those Hands
Wash Those Hands

Wash Those Hands!!

Did you know that only 48% of high school boys wash their hands after using the restroom (are you sharing a tub of popcorn with one of those boys??).

Only 42% of people wash their hands after touching their pet (was that cat just in the litter box????).

According to the Centers for Disease Control if you don’t wash your hands frequently you can pick up germs and then make yourself sick. We always stress hand washing during flu and cold season but what about before you prepare supper for your kids? Whatever is on your hands can be spread by this method also, if you don’t wash those hands.

What is the best advice we can give you about washing your hands? Don’t do it too quickly!

You should:

  • Use warm water and whatever soap you have.
  • Rub the soap on your hands vigorously and scrub all surfaces up to your wrist.
  • Make sure you scrub between the fingers and around your nails.
  • It should take about as long as it would take you to sing Happy Birthday, approximately 15 seconds.
  • Rinse well with running water and then pat dry.

Let’s keep ourselves and our families healthier by just keeping the germs off our hands.

Share this habit with your family and friends (not the germs).
