Team 8B
Hazelwood West Middle School

The 8th grade team is elated to have such an array of teachers and students this year.  With the theme of music surrounding the school, the 8th grade will be focusing on the 1980’s.  The 8B team is planning some exciting events which the students may “Jump” over and we hope will be a total “Thriller”.

Parents should not fret if a student comes home and says “She blinded me with Science.”  Mrs. Cook, 8B science, has been teaching for 13 years and believes to “dream of the moon and reach for the stars.”

If a child is “Hungry like a Wolf” for math, Mr. Henson and Mr. Frankenberger will be happy to feed them, as long as he/she is not a “Maneater”.  Mr. Henson, an eight year veteran, lives by the fact, if you don’t try, you will never succeed.  On the other hand, Mr. Frankenberger who has been teaching for fifteen
years believes success comes from knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

Some of our students may have the belief that “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”; however, in Social Studies, Mr. Wallis will teach that throughout U.S. history many just wanted to “Shout” about the atrocities in the nation.  Mr. Wallis has been teaching for seven years and says he can be a source of inspiration or an instrument of torture.

Ms. Perkin who has been teaching for three years is always available to help the teachers and students in their endeavors.  She is like “The Warrior” making sure everyone receives the best education and to her there is no “Borderline” between the students.  Ms. Perkins believes every person should learn at least one new thing each day no matter how big or small.

Finally, our students will have a “Celebration” when Mrs. Waldrop and Ms. Heyen say, “You’re the Inspiration” in Communication Skills.  Mrs. Waldrop who has been teaching for 16 years may tell students to “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, but only in their reading and writing for her motto is "Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't." --Mark Twain.  Ms. Heyen who has been teaching for 10 years believes her students reading and writing scores will be “Sailing” higher and higher.  In addition, she will be teaching the students the difference between fair and equal for “being fair does not mean everyone getting the same thing, but everyone getting what they need.”
