Welcome to Jana Elementary School, home of the Jana Tigers.

What an honor it is to serve as the principal of Jana Elementary School. I am pleased to be a part of a school that has a rich history of academic excellence, student of achievement, and parental involvement.

My career in education began in 1994 and has included teaching at the elementary and middle school levels. While teaching at the middle school level, I was introduced to PBIS, Positive Behavior Intervention Support. The PBIS philosophy focuses on improving student behavior by teaching desired outcomes and providing incentives for student to make better choices resulting in more time on task for instruction in the classroom. Jana is now a PBIS school dedicated to ensuring that Jana is a school with a safe and positive climate.

I am proud of our home/school communication at Jana. Each student has a daily planner outlining skills covered in class daily. Teachers also use this as method to communicate with parents. In addition, teachers send home weekly reports in Friday Folders that keep parents informed about students progress academically and specifies upcoming material to be covered in class. Our teachers stay current with professional development translating into powerful instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Jana’s PTA works with our staff to support existing traditions while developing and implementing new ones that will continue to encourage our students to be their greatest self.

At Jana we are committed to ensuring that every child reaches his or her optimal level of success socially, emotionally, and academically. We value each student’s talents and strengths. Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift each day. Go Tigers!
