McNair Elementary School families to spend evening with author, animals

McNair Elementary School students and their families will have a chance to meet the author of the book, “I Don’t Want to Kiss a Llama” during the school’s first Author and Animal Night, September 22 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Byron von Rosenberg will talk to students about what it is like to be an author. He and his books will comprise one of many activity stations for visiting students and their families. Other stations will include - animals from Cindy’s Petting Zoo, animal-related activities for students to complete on the Promethean Board in the school library, (a Promethean Board is an interactive whiteboard linked to a computer with Internet access), face painting and arts and crafts.

Von Rosenberg is a native of Houston, Texas who grew up in New Orleans. Since 2002, his poems have been translated into German and Russian, read on radio stations across the nation and presented to numerous schools, youth groups, retirement homes and civic clubs. “I Don’t Want to Kiss a Llama” has now sold more than 16,000 copies. Parents will have an opportunity purchase autographed copies for their student(s) at McNair.
